Within a year of its inception, the ‘Black in the Garden podcast earned a top-star rating on Apple Podcasts and achieved high chart rankings. With a global audience spanning 90+ countries, Colah b Tawkin connects with influential guests, thought leaders and experts in all things pro nature; heavy on the plants.
Her dedication to celebrating Black culture and her talent for curating culturally relevant conversations have nurtured a vibrant, inclusive community. This fertile soil of connections resonates, making her an influential voice in horticulture and cultural podcasting.
Beyond her green thumb, Colah is a mother, former trucker and entrepreneur leading the charge for Black people reconnecting with the land.

Within 3 years of podcasting, Colah’s been sought to speak at universities, conferences, public gardens and NPR. She serves on the American Public Gardens Association IDEA Center and is currently a Seed Your Future Advisory Council ambassador. Through her ‘Underground Arborist’ non-profit, her mission is to plant a tree in every U.S. state and engage more people of color, especially youth, in intentional environmental stewardship.
